A Page Turner

I found this to be Susan Hughes' best novel yet. With complex and interesting characters, an intriguing setting and an irresistible love story, it's difficult not to read late into the night. I found myself falling for Sean and wondering what it would be like to be blind. Hughes conveys very well the challenges he would have faced. I enjoyed living (vicariously) in the 20s and found it fascinating to think of how things were then. Delicious love scenes whet the appetite for romance. A Sense of Touch is unforgettable.

Lovely!

This gentle love story leaves the reader with lingering images of love and a strong sense of place. Living in Nova Scotia, I was particularly thrilled with the novel because it so accurately depicts Halifax at the time of the Explosion. Hughes writing is clear and thoughtful and she particularly impresses with her ability to write from the perspective of a young blind man. A great balance of history and romance with a splash of spicy passion. A great read!

Sensual Romance

A beautiful, sensual romance. It swept me away to another time and place and kept me riveted there. The vulnerability of both characters touched me and the author's vibrant style brought their story to life. Not just for fans of historical romance, but for anyone who enjoys a good love story.
