LOVE this book!!!

This book was a favorite of my daughter and is now my granddaughter loves it. I had to order a new one because the old one got too worn out from over use!
The only thing that I do not like about this book is that the character is very bossy towards her mother and never says please or thank you so I add those words as I am reading along.

When I was little my mom read this book to my sister and I. Flash forward 24 years and now I get to read it to my girls. The story is as hilarious as I remembered, only now I get to do the hysterical mother's voice when she discovers her daughter has colored herself all over with the super-indelible-never-come-off-till-your-dead-and-maybe-not-even-then markers. If you have little ones, this is a must read.

About the Author
Kathleen Stassen Berger completed her undergraduate education at Stanford University and Radcliffe College, earned her M.A.T. from Harvard University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from Yeshiva University. Her broad range of experience as an educator includes directing a preschool, teaching philosophy and humanities at the United Nations International School, teaching child and adolescent development to graduate students at Fordham University, teaching inmates earning paralegal degrees at Sing Sing Prison, and teaching undergraduates at both Montclair State University and Quinnipiac University. She has also been involved in education as the president of Community School Board in District Two in Manhattan.

Duplicate Edition

If you are taking a child development class this is the book you should use. The only down side was someone in the class had the 8th edition and the wording between both books was almost word for word. So unless you get a class that uses the 10th edition just save the money and buy the 8th edition. For the most part the book was great and really put everything out there, I just couldn't get past how much it was a copy of edition 8.

Textbook for Teaching Course

This text was required for an online class I took. I loved the convenience of being able to order it from Amazon and have it instantly on my Kindle! Also, having the choice to rent or buy on many textbooks is an awesome option to save some money. Once the rental period is up, you usually have the option to purchase the text and get credit for the amount you paid to rent it. So if you decide you want to keep it you don't end up paying both the rental and purchase prices!

Now that I've knocked on the door...

...I'd like to go further.

I have to admit that a lot of the books I've read that attempt to blend western modern psychology and pre-modern Muslim cosmology tend to get a bit flighty but Carberry's work was concise and kept me interested. Obviously meant as an introductory work, my appetite has been sufficiently whetted and now I await subsequent instruction on how to make use of Know Yourself's insights.

This is a must read for everone

I just finished reading Know Yourself. Wow! Know yourself provided some great insight into my personality type and my friends and family personality types also. I resonated with of the major personality types identified in the book, which would explain why I am always to person brought in to solve large problems. Wish I had this book growing up, it would have helped me tremendously. The book is well laid out and can be read in less than a few hours. Trust me, you will be pleasantly surprised as to why certains things work for you and why others things drive you crazy. Get a copy and one for your close friends also. It can be used for a nice group discussion.
