About the Author
Archana Prasad is Associate Professor at the Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, and was earlier a fellow of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library. She has written extensively on tribal development, identity formation and local systems of natural resource conservation for scholarly as well as popular journals. Fast arrival time!

The email I received about shipping estimates said I shouldn't expect this item before October 13th even though I purchased it Sept 20th. I thought that was crazy and was hoping that it would arrive a lot faster than that. I had purchased this book for a Embry Riddle class my husband was taking online and because of technical glitches within the school system he was already joining the class one week later than everyone else. (at the end of the add/drop deadline). But to our great satisfaction the book arrived by Friday..(sept 24th) even though I didn't pay for any kind of expedited shipping. Sufficed to say....we are very pleased with the item we received, in the condition it arrived and with the time it took to arrive. Nothing too fancy but great overall service. Thanks.

A BIT DISAPPOINTED

I was disappointed in Tamia's behavior, sonsidering all the trouble she's been through. It's seems like this woman didn't have an ounce of fight in her when it comes to Dominic. I really thought Tamia had learned her lesson after doing time in prison. Instead she came out just as naive as she went in, and allowed this man to play her for a fool once again. I wanted to see growth in this book, I wanted to see a new Tamia. Not this naive, gullible woman who can't tell the difference between her friends and enemies.

Inspite of it all, things turned out well for Tamia.

I literally read this book in one day!! I was hooked and just couldn't put it down. The whole series is just amazing. Noami Chase worked her magic on these books. A must read.....the whole series. I hate that i finished the story. I want more!!!!

What began as a blog to ensure a broad discussion on human development became a book that explores, in the words of Pope Benedict XVI s 2009 encyclical, love in truth. Snyder begins by explaining the pope s message in Veritas in caritate, quoting it throughout the remainder of his book. He then takes us on a journey through structural injustice by engaging in topics such as Defining Poverty, How We Live in Relationship to Each Other, and The New Poor, whom he describes as people we know, our neighbors, or family, or friends, people who never had to ask for help before. He challenges an economic model that puts the profit of shareholders over the sustainability of employees lives.

Snyder then hands us our fishing poles as he explains a need to change our measure of poverty from a body of statistics to the human person. He suggests using a new American Human Development Index that includes health, education, and income to promote a more informed, reasoned debate using objective facts and comparisons. He also highlights model programs such as Step Up Silicon Valley, which aims to cut poverty by increasing awareness, building partnerships, shaping public policy, increasing private and public funding, and integrating services to better meet the needs of the poor.

Rev. Larry Snyder is president of Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) and oversees Catholic Charities USA s work to reduce poverty in America. He is a member of the President s Council of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, and in 2008 and 2009, The Nonprofit Times recognized Father Snyder in its Power and Influence Top 50 for his influence in the nonprofit sector. In 2007, Pope Benedict XVI named him to the Pontifical Council Cor Unum, which oversees the Church's charitable activities around the world.
